Remembering Ellie

The Walled Garden was a calming, tranquil place where garden volunteer Julia was able to reflect on the short but important life of her niece Ellie. While Ellie was critically ill, Julia says she saw Ellie's face in the blooms, the butterflies and heard her voice in the songs of the birds and in the breeze through the roses. Volunteering in the Walled Garden helps keep Ellie's memory fresh for Julia and grounds her when feeling sad reminding her to appreciate the joy of being alive. She says it's as if the natural beauty and abundance of the scented Walled Garden hold the memories of Ellie safe and her presence lives on.
